I first discovered
my passion for pottery while studying an assemblage of mediaeval ceramics for
my Master’s thesis in Archaeology. From then on I had immersed myself ever deeper
in the world of ancient ceramics, not least in the course of my twelve-year stint
as a professional archaeologist in Picardy (north-east of Paris).
Eventually, in 1999 I decided
to switch careers and learn the trade of the potter. Relocating to the Nievre
district of Burgundy, and close to the major potting centre of Saint-Amand en
Puisaye, I sought to reproduce pottery from the mediaeval era.
And now, combining my archaeological
knowledge with my acquired potting skills, I create collections of cooking and
table wares that are as close as possible to the mediaeval originals, in both
their shape and technique.
